Father’s Day is almost here! For those of you that read this and immediately panic due to a lack of gifts or concrete plans to celebrate the dad in your life, don’t fear! There is so much to do, see, and buy just in downtown Dayton you’ll be set in no time.
There are over 60 restaurants in the downtown area alone; the possibilities are really endless for Father’s Day dinner or lunch. Do a brunch at Blind Bob’s Tavern. Or try the buffet style “brunch” menu for a late lunch at De’lish for live Jazz after 1:30 pm.
Take dad out to the ball game! The Dayton Dragons are playing at 2:00 pm on Father’s Day. Before the game hit up the Brixx Ice Co. for some good bites and cold brews. After the last inning, go shoot some pool at The Southern Bell Tavern.
Take another route and rent a Link bike for a jaunt around downtown. You can get just a day pass or go for annual passes for both you and dad. You can also rent a bike from Riverscape Rentals to take a cruise along the Miami River. Ride individually, share a tandem bike, or rent a child seat or trailer and bring the kids!
If your dad is the treasure hunter type then seek out the 3rd on Third: Dayton’s Eclectic Outdoor Market from 11 am to 4 pm. There’s something for everyone with antiques, local produce, and handmade goods. Food trucks will be on site if you want to make a lunch out of it, too.
Dayton has a plethora of breweries downtown. After 1 pm you can grab a brew at the Toxic Brewery, which prides itself in being the first brewery to brew in downtown Dayton for over 50 years. With names like Gem City Ruby or Derailed, there’s really something for every beer lover here.
Taking a cue from the historical side of Dayton, Warped Wing Brewery is one not to be missed! Take dad on a tour of the brewery, and then grab a cold one. Tours are every Sunday, but call ahead as dad’s day is sure to be popular!
The Fifth Street Brewpub is a great place for suds and grub! Experience some of Chef Brandon’s finest fare along with a FSB Cure-All Cream Ale. Or try the Dandelion Saison, to be released on Father’s Day. It won the Fifth Street Brewpub’s 2015 Member Homebrew Competition’s Brewmaster’s Choice Award.
Then there is the Dayton Beer Co., who’s “The Java Man Cometh” just won a Gold award at the 2015 Best of Craft Beer Awards.
Enjoy your Father’s Day 2015! Then come on home to First Place Apartments, your luxury apartments in downtown Dayton.
