Dayton Beer Week kicks off this weekend and we couldn’t be more excited since First Place Apartments is in the thick of it all in beautiful downtown Dayton. The official start is Saturday and the events keep going until the last foamy drop on the 29th with Alefest Dayton!

So what’s to see? The week is teeming with activities spread throughout the general Dayton area, but what can you walk to from downtown?
The Oregon District is only about a mile from First Place and has a multitude of features for the week. Check out the official schedule online to find the specific brews on tap and what restaurants are participating nightly.
A notable mention, if you’re looking for dinner and drinks, Jimmie’s Ladder 11 is the place to be. Only about a couple of miles from First Place and downtown, they have an amazing menu with everything from small bites to sandwiches, pizza to perch! They’ll have Dayton Beer Week Specials Sunday (North High tappings), Tuesday (Fat Head’s Look Alike Contest), Friday (Dayton versus Cincy Breweries Beer Showdown), and Saturday (Alefest After Party).

Or how about taking a walk to go run? Just about a mile from the doors at First Place is the starting line for the first ever Tomfoolery Dayton Beer Miler. Miler you ask? That’s because this race is only a mile long, with four quarter-mile loops that each feature a 12 oz glass of Dayton Beer Company beer. Enjoy the race, the after party and beer from the 2014 Dayton’s Best Brewery.
If you’d rather watch an event than run it, we suggest you head over to the 6th Annual Beer Pride Parade. Snaking through the streets of downtown Dayton from the Dublin Pub to the Oregon District, the parade begins at 4:30 Sunday and ends with the Dayton Beer Week Opening Ceremonies.
For the bikers in your group, make sure you head over to the 5th Annual Biking for the Beer of it! This route takes you on a ten mile loop to and from Warped Wing Brewery, only a mile from First Place, and greets you at the finish line with a sampling of beers and appetizers.
Alefest in Downtown Dayton
The final hurrah of Dayton Beer Week is the 16th Annual Alefest Dayton, held on August 29th from 2 to 5 pm at Dave Hall Plaza on South Main Street in downtown Dayton. This huge beer appreciation event showcases over 400 beers and, new this year, a cask tent. A general admission ticket includes 20 beer samplings, a commemorative glass, and raffle entry. Food trucks will be on site to meet your feeding needs!
There’s always something fun to do in downtown Dayton! We hope this helps narrow down your choices, because choosing is always the hard part.
