Ice Skating in Dayton
Nestled downtown at the covered pavilion within Riverscape Park you’ll find the MetroParks Ice Rink. Open 7 days a week including holidays, it’s the perfect outing for the whole family. Skate rental and concessions are on-site.
Looking for lessons? The Kettering Ice Arena offers both group and private lessons, as well as open skate.

Snow Tubing in the Dayton Area
Located just over an hour from downtown Dayton, the Avalanche Tubing Park is the place to be for all-ages snow-tubing fun. Sporting ten lanes of tubing excitement, the site also offers a lift to get you back to the top.
Head south to a summertime attraction turned tubing destination, The Beach Mountain. Featuring 400 foot tubing runs and over 100,000 lights on the ground, it’s the perfect weekend outing for the family.
Skiing and Snowboarding
Boarding or skiing more your fashion? Beginners and experts alike will enjoy the 144 skiable acres of Mad River Mountain (also home to Avalanche Tubing Park). Novices can book packages that include lessons and rentals, or experienced boarders/skiers can take to the slopes directly via a daily or season pass.

Mad River Mountain is just a little over an hour from downtown.
Free Winter Outdoor Activities in Dayton
Looking for free winter outdoor activities? Make sure you include Dayton Metro Parks in your list. The hiking trails are open all year long for brisk winter hikes. Englewood MetroPark or Germantown MetroPark have steeper sledding hills within the grounds for experienced sledders. For family sledding, head over to Taylorsville MetroPark in Vandalia. The park’s sledding hill features a gentle slope, perfect for children. Also perfect for all ages, the hill in Indian Riffle Park has a nice, smooth slope and plenty of room.
