Motivation is in and this weekend all you’re wishing for is to be a mean cleaning machine—but without any added chemicals. That’s why we’ve got the rundown for the best all natural cleaning products to get your space spotless.
Cleaning with Vinegar
Vinegar should definitely be your go-to for green cleaning. Hard water, dark beverage stains, and odors stains are no match to vinegar. For stubborn, stuck-on stains just let full-strength vinegar set overnight. You can spray on or pour it in. Then, wipe away the stain. For lesser grime just fill a bucket with 1 part vinegar and 1 part warm water, and scrub away.
Food gunk, hard water, or funky smells are eliminated from appliances such as dishwashers by adding a cup of vinegar then running through an empty cycle.
Or add it to your laundry! A cup in the rinse cycle will soften clothes and minimize static. To whiten your whites, just add a couple of cups to your load.
Cleaning with Baking Soda
Baking soda zaps odors gone, so keep a box inside your fridge to kill traces of last night’s fish fry and get garlic smells gone. Sprinkle a bit of baking soda anywhere odors lie, such as in the litter box or trash can.
Baking soda is great for breaking up hard, stuck-on grime. Just create a paste out of baking soda and water, and then scrub with a soft sponge. For very difficult gunk such as on burners or in the oven let the paste set for a few hours to overnight.
Household Cleaning with Citrus
You can make a pleasantly scented cleaner by combining citrus peels and vinegar. Just place your peels in a container and fill with vinegar, then seal and let set for a couple of weeks. Pour into a spray bottle and you’re ready to go!
Or, create your own dusting or dry sweeping cloths. Just cut rags to the size you wish and let them soak in a mixture of 2 cut up lemons, 2 tbsp. olive oil, 1 cup white vinegar, and 1 cup warm water for a day. Let dry, then you’re ready to go! Dust and hair will cling to the cloths and leave surfaces with a pleasant scent.
Cleaning with Salt
A few tablespoons of salt go a long way when keeping your drains clear and odor-free. Just mix up about a quart of hot water with 4 tbsp salt and pour down the drains.
Salt and soda water mixed also make a perfect solution for cleaning out your refrigerator, freezer or other appliance. Just mix a quart of soda water with ½ cup salt and scrub away. It will scrub away any light stains and leave it odor-free.
